Seattle Legal News:Jane Hague gets 6 months probation for DUI

Filed under: Legal News — ruamnesty @ 6:45 pm

In Seattle criminal news, ccording to the highly respected ‘Seattle Times Eastside bureau’ online news publication,
Metropolitan King County Councilmember Jane Hague got six months of probation for her high profile dui case,
and she has to make no fere than 3 public-service announcements plus perform some seventy-five hours of community service. She also must drive her vehicle with an ignition-interlock gadget,
as well as undergo an alcohol related evaluation, according to her attorney and also the newspaper. If everything goes well for her and she complies with all of that mandates,
her charge may possibly be reduced to the downgraded charge of reckless driving. I am sure that she and her attorney are hoping for that particular outcome here. All in all, the judgement was fai, in my own personal opinion.
And she also seems to think the judgement was fair, saying that she was quite pleased with the outcome of the charge which was filed following her being stopped while driving on Highway 520 on her way back to the city of Bellevue from nearby Seattle.
The Prosecutor in the case, one Lynn Moberly, brought these particular charges to avoid any potential conflicts with the King County Prosecutor’s Office. In addition, she stated that these recommendation were arranged through long negotiations.
By the way if you are searching for a wonderful Seattle criminal attorney you should give the Law offices of Kirk C. Davis a shout. They are among the best in the city at what they do. So if you are looking for a Seattle criminal attorney then look no further than them.
Meanwhile in other Seattle related legal news headlines, it was reported on the K5 Local News network that some recent Seattle nightclub stings may have actually backfired. In court earlier in the week,
the particular officer who was supposed to testify against a doorman accused of letting in minors simply did not show up for the hearing in question. This same situation also occured at another defendant’s trial the previous week. That defendant was then found not guilty
and the charges were later dropped, apparently.
All the while, Attorney Michael Schwartz maintains that the whole sting in question was a complete waste of police time as well as taxpayer funds, according to the article.
All in all, Of the twenty-eight odd individuals arrested, the courts have dismissed 2 of the cases in question, found 1 individual not guilty, while at the same time working out some type of plea deals with nine more, the report stated. Wiow, sounds like some interesting times in Seattle these days.
Being an assemblywoman she probably does not really feel like a criminal, but she is.

What is better, Tea, Goji Juice or just water?

Filed under: Uncategorized — ruamnesty @ 3:49 am

There are many people who drink a large amount of water per day, there are also a large amount of people who drink more than several cups of tea a day and recently there has been some research done into which is better for the body.
Drinking water of course is healthy because it is replenishing essential fluid in the body that makes up a percentage of water that the body is made.
However this research has shown that drinking tea is possibly more beneficial to the body, while it puts liquid into the body tea also is loaded with antioxidants. Water of course does not have antioxidants to add to its replenishment of the body.
Some of the research that has been done with tea and its antioxidants have given some proof that it may help to guard against certain types of cancer, weight loss and it may even help protect against the onset of Alzheimer’s, along with other diseases.
There has also been research done into the types of antioxidants in black tea and green tea, while they both have antioxidants they are different types of antioxidants and are equally healthy for the body and guarding against disease. This of course was not a large surprise in the research as both teas come from different plants and are processed differently.
And although there is no real consensus among health professionals regarding tea people experts believe that green tea tends to be better overall for one’s health health and wellness than black tea, even though they are both jam packed with antioxidant power.
There have been some reports (not confirmed by the ultimate authority the Food and Drug Administration) that grean tea is also good for your heart and may even help you lose weight. If you are looking for a sweeter kind od of antioxidant drink you may want to try
goji juice. This Himalayan goji juice  features a very balanced polysaccharide profile which is important for your health. Dr. Earl mendell, PHD, has stated that a good recommended daily dose is between one and three ounces, approximately.
He also states that there are no side effects from drinking more than that which are known at this time. Goji Juice comes from the red little berry with is know either as the goji or the wolf berry, although it’s technical scientific name is lycium barbarum.

California Air Resources Board under fire

Filed under: Legal News, Regional news — ruamnesty @ 7:34 pm

In the latest local regional news, the California Air Resources Board is under the gun; they have had a lawsuit filed against them by no less than eleven organizations that represent aftermarket auto parts. A legal suit was filed against the Air Resources Board for their regulation that would extent warranties on some of the aftermarket parts these organizations represent.

The largest part of this suit is a rule that was approved on January 4th, 2008 that extends some of the warranties on these aftermarket emissions parts up to ten years or 120,000 miles; this extension is for all new autos.

In comments from Aaron Lowe of the Automotive Industry Aftermarket Association whose organization is one of the plaintiff’s states that one of their concerns is that by placing these extended warranties the Air Regulations Board is deciding who should and who should not be doing repairs on autos.   By the way, if you are in the southern California generally and you are in need of a competent Los Angeles cruise ship accident lawyer  The law offices of Steven Sweat can help you if you need competent los angeles criminal defense attorneys, a dui lawyer newport beach, a Los Angeles cruise ship accident lawyer or perhaps a burn victim attorney. Now back to the news article at hand…….

This statement comes from the issue of the warranties to be extended including auto parts such as catalytic converters and oxygen sensors which would send new auto owners to dealer owned shops to have repairs done on their autos.

According to some of the particular research studies and other types of studies that have been done a warranty extension such as this could cost independent garages and parts suppliers as well as others in this field approximately eight billion dollars a year in lost business.  That is a lot of lost business for one specific industry like that.

Book about Robert De Niro

Filed under: General News, Entertainment News — ruamnesty @ 11:58 pm

I have just read a fascinating book about the career of legendary movie actor Robert De Niro.
The biography was written by John Baxer. I do not think it was the authorized version, but nevertheless paints a mostly complimentary picture of the actor,
in my opinion. One funny thing happened involving director Martin Scorsese, who could not stand blood. De Nero, when training during real fights,
yelled at Scorsese as he was leaving “where are you going? Stay here! I am doing this for you, you know!”. He apparently was forced to watch the carnage.
Then toward the end of filming De Niro famously ballooned up in weight for the final scenes. he worked them off by his next film, ‘True Confessions’, which was released in 1981 and co-starred Robert Duvall.
For the 1976 movie Taxi Driver, in which he was nominated for the best-actor oscar, he was so completely absorbed in the role that the crew was worried that he would never come out of the character when the shooting ended.
That role actually changed his face permanently…..he was in character 24/7 which required a certain crooked grin, which left a certain wrinkle and sidewise slant that he still has to this day.
‘The King of Comedy’ required stand up comedy practice, and so on….. In addition to his acting, he has also directed 2 films and produced a number of others via Tribeca.
He is also an award winning broadway actor and owns the Tribeca Film Center too. This is one talented dude. Roger Ebert said in his movie reviews book
that he only knew of 2 movie actors from this era that would be legends (like Marlon Brando) and that they were Jack Nicholson and Robert De Nero.
I agree and might also add Al Pacino and Anthony Hopkins to that list. Of course, De niro has had a flew flops and several roles that were not universally well reviewed,
as have virtually all actors. They include ‘the 1992 film noir drama ‘Night and the City’ co-starring Jessica Lange and Jack Warden and the 1996 Tony Scott thriller ‘The Fan;
which co-starred Wesley Snipes and Ellen Barkin. The film ‘Mad dog and Glory’, co-starring Uma Thurman, David Caruso and Bill murray, also recieved mixed reviews.

Hulk Hogan’s son in Legal Trouble

Filed under: General News, Entertainment News, Legal News — ruamnesty @ 10:10 pm

According to as number of National news sources, the teenage son of Professional wrestler and reality television celebrity Hulk Hogan was arrested yesterday and will likely face criminal charges stemming from a car crash in which the passenger, who is also his friend,
was badly injured. In fact a seperate news story reported that the friend, whose name is John Graziano, will likely never recover from his injuries and will probably need to be cared for in a nursing home for the rest of his life.
Graziano, a United States Marine, suffered a broken skull, brain swelling and a large quantity of blood collected under his skull.
In fact he is still on life support and can only open and close his eyes. Pretty severe injuries indeed.
By the way if you have been injured in an automobile accident and need a quality lawyer check out Los Angeles Personal Injury Attorneys
In any event authorities stated yesterday that Nick Bollea, who is only seventeen years old but will probably be tried as an adult due to the serious nature of the case, turned himself in to authorities due to the August 26 incident in which eye witnesses stated that they saw 2
motor vehicles racing each other on the wet roads in Clearwater, Florida. And then one of them, tragically, slammed into a tree.
The charges arrayed against him are reckless driving involving serious bodily harm plus 3 other seperate offenses.
Daniel Jacobs, 22, whom authorities stated was the driver of the other vehicle in question during the race, must also appear in court for reckless driving.
However, it appears that he is not considered to be the cause cause in the catostrophic crash. His father
Hulk Hogan (real name: Terrence Bollea) stated that they were “saddened” that criminal charges have been filed andthat  his son was being treated as an adult despite his age.

California Legal aid Company appears to be scam

Filed under: General News, Legal News — ruamnesty @ 1:15 am

According to a superb editorial story by none other than Henry Weinstein of the LA Times,
one of California’s most high profile law practices has filed civil litigation with the aim of putting an apparently crooked
”legal-aid” enterprise out of business in Northern California. Analysts have claimed that this specific lawsuit is an attempt to deal with a growing problem
in California. This lawsuit claims that the ‘Legal Center for Legal Aid’ has cheated
state citizens who were seeking help with evictions. They also claim that they
have been using various fake advertising in a “brazen . . . scam” to cheat some 4 individuals, including a blind man senior citizen, a double amputee and even a plaintiff with an extreme head injury.
If you would like a legit personal injury attorney in California visit Los Angeles personal Injury Attorneys
They gave no help (or at least very bad help) to those aforementioned victims and unbelievably, still use fake advertising and promotional methods, according to the lawsuit in question.
They even advertise in some Yellow Page books and their entry was right next to to the honest legal aid outfits thus going the extra mile to decieve their victims, according to the report.
Furthermore, this particular lawsuit accuses them of unlawful practice of law, false advertising, professional negligence, fraud and several other very serious charges. Man, do these guys have no scruples or what?
Talk about a major lack of ethics and moral standards. In any event, this troubling situation was described as a “very common problem,”. Unfortunatel, it also appears to be increasing substantially, according to the los Angeles Times article.
For example, the California Law Clinic, which is a Los Angeles-based company, was sued about 4 years ago or so for misrepresenting itself as a public interest organization. This particular
“clinic” operated under a number of different names such as Legal Aid Crenshaw and Legal Aid Compton, in areas where they have Law offices. Very sneaky methods at work here.
After all was said and done, the judge in the case awarded one and a half million dollars in damages. Yet those damages have yet to be collected, sadly enouph.

Pop Singer Spears Granted certain Visitation Rights

Filed under: Entertainment News — ruamnesty @ 7:51 am

In an order released yesterday, Superior Court Commissioner Scott M. Gordon granted some visitation rights to the twenty-five-year-old star singer while at the same time requiring a monitor to watch her while she is with her boys.
Her visits will be cut short if the monitor believes that any behavior threatens the health or welfare of the kids. After a hearing 2 days ago, a court spokesman indicated that Spears would be permitted visits every other day.
Phone messages left for her attorneys  were not returned as of yesterday.
She had initially turned custody of the boys over to Federline after she had failed to produce a valid driver’s license and supposedly missed a test for narcotics as ordered by the court.
This was reported on ‘People’ Magazine a while back.
Gordon stated in his court order that she “was not in substantial compliance with material provisions” of his previous ruling.
In addition,he stated that if she misses any narcotics or alcohol tests, it will be “deemed by the court as a failed test.” Furthermore, she must finish a miniumum of 3 seperate counseling sessions by the time of the next hearing at the end of the month.
She had to previously undergo random narcotic testing 2 times per week after the court found she engages in “habitual, frequent and continuous use of controlled substances and alcohol.”
There had already been a variety of other conditions that had to be met, such as to meet each week with a “parenting coach” and so forth. As a matter of fact, both parents have to finish the court’s “Parenting Without Conflict” class.
Further, they were both refrained from drinking or using drugs either in the presence of their kids or within tweleve hours before taking charge of them.
All of this sounds reasonable to me, in my personal opinion.

The Pick-Up Artist on TV

Filed under: Entertainment News — ruamnesty @ 4:03 pm

According to their ranking system, the reality TV show ‘The Pick Up Artist’
is among their top shows overall, somewhat surprisingly. The show stars the world’s greatest pick Artist named Mystery.
In the show his job is to train 8 guys who have a deficit in the love department. It is interesting to watch this guy
train these characters and eliminate their bad habits. They are AFC’s or Average Frustrated Chumps, the show explains.
Mystery himself is an interesting guy. Hailing from Toronto, Canada, he got good at clubbing after doing his magic performances.
This 6′5 master of the “Venusian Arts’ wears flamboyant clotheses such a cape, gogles and tophat (being a unique dresser is apparently important).

More detail can be found over on The Entertainment Blog
This legendary PUA is highly respected by his peers. A few years ago he defeated another top Pick Up Artist named Tyler Durden
over several days in Los Angeles in a close pick up competition there. Other top master Pick Up Artists include Style, Juggler,
David Shade and Rasputin. Mystery has many accolades. When the ‘Rolling Stone’ magazine writer Neil Strauss accompanied Mystery on a field
workshop in the clubs of LA, He reported that Mystery took a girl right off of celebrity Scott Baio. As Mystery signaled his wing to come over and engage Baio
in conversation to distract him, Mystery picked her up and Baio was heard telling the wing “Tell me he is not picking up my girlfriend right in front of me”.
That one must have hurt the pride. Back to the show: Every week a student is elimintated, and now it is down to just 2 students, Brady and Kosmo.
Brady would seem to have some momentum since he just picked up an exotic dancer. The winner get’s $50,000 and get’s to travel the world with Mystery for a year. It should
be interesting to see how this one turns out.

Actor/Director Clooney injured in NJ motorcycle crash

Filed under: General News — ruamnesty @ 7:49 am

George Clooney and his gal pal were injured yesterday when his motorcycle
collided with a vehicle on a road that cuts across from New York City to New Jersey state.
Clooney himself suffered a broken rib and some abrasions to his skin. Meanwhile, his passenger, Sarah Larson,
broke her foot in the late afternoon collision. They were both treated at Palisades Medical
Center in North Bergen and then released, according to the star’s spokesman.More celebrity news can be obtained at The Entertainment Blog
Apparently, he and Larson were going north and then sped up to pass on the right of a Mazda Millenia car which was about
to make a right turn. Fortunately, both of them were wearing their helmets.
At this particular time it is not clear whether or not the car’s driver even used a turn signal. The accident is currently under investigation
but I suspect some more facts will be released very soon regarding the crash.
Apparently the Oscar Winner and former sexiest man alive was in the New York City area to film the movie “Burn After Reading,” which also stars his Brad Pitt,
a co-star of many of his movies, plus John Malkovich and actress Frances McDormand as well.
Evidentally this accident will not likely delay the movie’s production schedule.
Meanwhile his next film, “Michael Clayton,” will be released sometime in October. He and Larson have reportedly been spied together at a few film events in the last month or 2.
I hope George get’s better soon. My favorite movies by him are ‘3 Kings and ‘The Perfect Storm’.

O.J. arrested and faces charges related to an armed robbery

Filed under: General News — ruamnesty @ 7:44 pm

Simpson was arrested just after 11 o’clock and in the morning and is currently being brought to a police office, Capt. James Dillon said. Police are still determining charges against Simpson.

A few police officers were sighted entering the hotel where Simpson is currently staying; security reported that the authorities took Simpson out a side door shortly thereafter.

At least 1 other individual has been arrested and authorities said earlier today that as many as 6 suspects could be arrested involving the possible armed robbery which apparently happened in a room inside the Palace Station hotel & casino several days.

The sixty year old former NFL has previously stated that said he and other individuals who were with him were retrieving merchandise which belonged to him. He has stated to the authorities that no weapons were involved in the incident.

Authorities have stated that 2 firearms plus other evidence were taken at a private residence early today.

Arizona resident Walter Alexander was arrested Saturday and charged with 2 counts of robbery with a deadly weapon, 2 counts of assault with a deadly weapon, conspiracy to commit robbery and also burglary with a deadly weapon.
Should be interesing to see what exactly Simpson gets charged with. Perhaps he is looking for the Columbian drug lords who really commited the crime.
